Ragi juice recipe | how to make healthy finger millet juice recipe – a nutritious and tasty health drink recipe.

I must say, cooking for my lil one has introduced me to lots of healthy dishes. If you ask me what I do these days other than just loving, staring, feeding, recording and changing diapers of my lil one, the other task is my never ending search on what to feed her. My constant talk with anyone I meet these days will be baby food.

Ragi ( finger millet) pudding has always been first solid food to infants in my family. So our lil one was also introduced to this amazing millet when she was 5 months old. I must say ragi is her favourite (solid food) among others.

So when you have enough ragi at home, evening tea time has mostly changed to ragi time for all others at home. Hot ragi malt or ragi juice is served most of the evenings.

This ragi juice is my new favourite these days. Trust me being super healthy it is super tasty too. Do try and tell me what you think.

HOW TO MAKE RAGI JUICE | FINGER MILLET JUICE

All this ragi juice recipe needs is

  • whole ragi | finger millet
  • milk
  • cardamom
  • black pepper
  • jaggery

Ragi flour is readily available in market. But I always prefer to buy whole organic ragi whenever I find them in super market.

  • Check ragi for any small stones, husks and remove them.
  • Rinse it at least twice in running water.
  • Allow it to sun dry naturally for at least 5-6 hours.
  • Once dried completely, store in air tight container and use when required.
  • For ragi juice, dry roast ragi for about a min in a saute pan. Do not allow ragi to crackle. Ragi is considered to be natural coolant. In order to reduce a bit of coolness it is dry roasted.
  • Once roasted grind smooth adding jaggery, black pepper, cardamom and milk. I used full fat milk for this recipe, skimmed milk also can be used. But I have not tried the vegan options. Do try and tell me how it tastes. But ragi pudding made with coconut milk is just too yum.
  • Strain the liquid and serve.
