This quick indian style tomato salsa recipe, can be your super quick snack fix which will definitely satisfy your taste buds when you are tired or plain lazy for an elaborate chaat dish.
To be frank, I definitely did not know what to call this recipe. This is the recipe I grew up with, which our mom served us with, to satisfy our everyday craving for chaat.
I wanted to title this recipe as tomato chaat recipe, since this recipe is missing the must have chutney’s for chaat, I ended with Indian style tomato salsa as title.
But trust me when I tell you this is no less than any street style chaat even without any chutney’s in it. Because the sweetness of sugar, tartness of lime and oh so good indian chaat masala will tingle your tastebuds as just any good chaat would do.

Now lets begin with step by step method on how to prepare this recipe.
- Finley chop onion, tomatoes, coriander leaves and place all the three in a mixing bowl.
- To this add, red chili powder, chaat masala powder, salt, sugar, lime juice and mix well.
- Now add sev (fried chickpea noodles) as a thick layer above the prepared salsa.
- Make sure to add sev just before serving, otherwise sev will turn soggy and crunchiness will be lost. This recipe is even better with sev mixture (with fried peanuts, dal and other fried items) .
